With an eye towards graduation and her career in special education Ashley is working at Island Tans or Reynoldsburg. She had a brief stint working a second job as a cashier at Sports Authority in Reynoldsburg, but quit when Island Tans offered her more hours.
“I work there because I love tanning and I love the closeness of all the employees,” she explained. “I mean yeah! [I work for the money too.]”

She has also been involved with charities and her youth donating her time and effort to help others who are less fortunate. On spring break this year instead of partying or taking a trip to the beach like most college students she went on a mission’s trip to El Salvador. Ashley has been involved in “Nellie’s Catwalk 4 Kids.
“It is an organization that raises funds and awareness for pediatric cancer in a fun and fashionable way.” she explained. “The kids and the volunteers put on a runway show to entertain and raise donations.”
Family
Despite living in the dorms her freshman year and first semester of her sophomore year Ashley has moved back home to be closer to her family. Her family is very important to her. Her younger brother Troy is a junior in high school. Her father works for his own business and her mother works in the local public schools. Further proof of her love and respect for family can be found in her possible tattoo.

“’Can’t never could’, if I ever got a tattoo that’s what it would say,” Ashley said. “It is my favorite quote from my grandma.”
Looking Forward
Ashley is also very close to her friends. She plans to kick-off her summer next week with a trip to Georgia to see friends who have moved there. It will provide her a chance to relieve the stress that builds up over the school year and allow her to relax this summer. She is also excited about attending an Eric Church concert; she is a country music fan. She is excited about this summer also because it marks the halfway point of her undergraduate education. The end of the school year gets her one year closer to her goal: helping children as a special education teacher.
