Taking on a double major, a full course load, a part time job and maintaining high grades could make some fold under pressure, but when times get tough, the prospect of a bright future is enough to keep Morgan Lentes going strong.

Little Chatter Box

In the fall, sophomore, Morgan Lentes decided to double major in both Broadcast Journalism and History at Ohio University. In some ways, she always knew she would want a career in Broadcast.
“As a little girl my first dream job was to become a movie star,” said Lentes.
Beginning from a young age, she’s loved talking, story telling and being in front of the camera. She grew up watching the news, and along with her interest in writing, she found it only fitting that a career in Broadcast was the most practical career to combine her best qualities into one.

Dreams in Sight

Choosing to double major in Broadcast Journalism and History is preparing Morgan for a broad spectrum of job opportunities.
“The most important thing is to get any job after school," said Lentes.
Ones of particular interest to Morgan include news reporting, working with public relations in museums, or a university athletic department’s public relations work.
“I would love to work at the Smithsonian one day; I am applying for an internship there this summer.”

A Little Fine Tweaking

Upon entering college almost two years ago, Morgan has seen many changes in herself.
“I changed a lot, in all good ways,” said Lentes.
She has seen herself becoming a lot more independent. She stands up for herself, makes more of her own decisions and has become a lot more outgoing. It forced her to go outside of her comfort zone to meet new people.
“Coming in I felt like I had a strong sense of self, and I feel like I am still the same person, with a few minor tweaks,” said Lentes.
She is not only growing academically in her studies, but as a person too, which she finds just as important.

Free Time

In the moments Morgan needs to relax from her busy course load, she turns to running, sketching and watching TV. An avid runner, Morgan competed in track and field in middle school and high school, as well as cross country her junior and senior years; today she competes in road races. A love for the outdoors has Morgan spending a lot of time running or walking with friends. She caught up on drawing when she began at Meigs High School. It soon grew into a big interest of hers and a great way to tap into her more creative side. Morgan’s weekly TV addictions include Bones, Ghost Hunters and What Not to Wear.
“After a long school day of reading, writing and studying, it’s the best to relax by watching the History Channel, Discovery Channel, or National Geographic,” said Lentes.

En Route

While dreaming of the perfect job for her future career, she always thinks of the two places she wants to travel to one day, Australia and Africa.
“Australia has such a different landscape; I would love to see the Great Barrier Reef,” said Lentes.
Africa is another destination Morgan plans to visit. When she was younger, without yet understanding just how far away it is, she always envisioned Africa to be on the other side of a huge hill at her home. At the end of the street she lives on, it’s a dead end, with a huge hill on the other side. She thought, when she turned 18 that once she walked over the hill, she would enter Africa.
“Earning my education is one hill I’m climbing now, and at the top we’ll see what awaits me."
